To all who supported this campaign with their energy, encouragement, donations and votes, thank you so much. Even though we came up short in votes, we succeeded in influencing and driving debate about many important issues facing Austin. At forums all over town, I offered fresh ideas about transportation, protecting neighborhoods, an Office of Public Advocate, better water and energy conservation, etc. It was a great experience. And I am optimistic that the concerns the incumbent heard from citizens throughout the campaign will help him be a better council member.
However, nearly 92 percent of registered voters DID NOT vote. Only 3.6 percent voted in early voting, and only 4.7 percent voted on Election Day. That's not good. We have to improve that.
So what’s next? Will I run again? I’ll discuss my political plans at the appropriate time.
